Curtis D. Horne, CPL, is an independent landman based in Houston, Texas. Curt began his career as a field landman in 1981 with Sam B. Rose Oil & Gas Properties, Inc., of Norman, Oklahoma, and has experience in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Montana. His firm, Curtis D. Horne & Associates, LLC, provides clients throughout Texas with a full range of field land services.
A member of the American Association of Professional Landmen since 1997, Curt earned his CPL designation in 1999. He currently serves on the AAPL Executive Committee as Treasurer. He is a member of the Education Committee, and is the Past Chairman of the Certification and Field Landman Committees. Curt was named recipient of the 2002 Field/Independent Landman Award and the 2007 Best Member Communication Award. On the local level, Curt is a member of the Houston Association of Professional Landmen, where he serves as Chairman of the Saturday Seminar Committee.
Curt is an instructor for the AAPL CPL/RLP Exam Review and the AAPL Introduction to Field Land Practices Seminar, teaching sections on Real Property Law, Contract Law, The Oil & Gas Lease, Title Opinions and Curative, Conveyancing, Interest Calculations, Negotiations and Ethics. He has also spoken on a variety of topics for the NGL Institute, AAPL, HAPL, NHAPL, ALTAPL, SAAPL, NADOA, HADOA, ALTA-Houston and at The Association of Desk and Derricks Clubs National Convention.
Curt lives in Pearland with his wife Jamie and their daughter Kailey, age 10, and son Eli, age 9. They are active parishioners at St. Helen Catholic Church, where Curt is the Chairman of the 2008 Parish Bazaar and Auction. He enjoys hunting, fishing and running, and successfully completed the 2001 Houston Marathon.
